Do's and Don'ts While on IVF Medication (For Egg Donors)

While on IVF medications, it is important to follow all these suggestions. These will increase your chances of a successful egg donation cycle.

1. Don't: Sauna, Sunbathing, or Hot Tubs

We strongly suggest avoiding saunas, sunbathing, and hot tubs due to overheating your body and dehydration.

2. Do: Eat a Healthy and Balanced Diet

We suggest having a well-balanced diet, which includes decreasing sugar intake and highly processed foods

3. Don't Exercise (Rule of Thumb: No Making Your Pony Tail Bounce)

Your ovaries are enlarged and fragile. We do not recommend any physical stress to avoid damaging the ovaries.

4. Do: Drink Plenty of Electrolytes

Electrolytes will help flush out the water being stored in your ovaries, especially after your egg retrieval.

5. Don't: Have Sex

You are very susceptible to getting pregnant while on IVF medications. It would also be very uncomfortable and stressful on your ovaries.

6. Do: Increase Fiber Intake

A high fiber intake will help with bowel movements and prevent constipation that the medication may cause.

7. Don't: Social Drugs

It is always recommended to refrain from the use of marijuana, tobacco, and other drugs. Please keep in mind you will also be tested.

8. Do: Stay Rested

Since your ovaries are enlarged, we recommend staying rested and staying seated to help you recover quicker.

9. Don't: Alcohol and Caffeine

We strongly recommend avoiding these two due to dehydration.

Make sure to contact your clinic if you have any other questions or concerns.
